What charity is it? Good question, and the answer is the March of Dimes!
Why the March of Dimes? Well, I feel like Chad and I were blessed with how healthy Kyndall was when she was born, despite being born early. There were a number of complications that a premature baby can have, and we, by the grace of God, did not have to experience any of them! So in return for being so blessed, I feel like I need to help out those who aren't so blessed.
What is the March of Dimes mission? The March of Dimes "mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. We carry out this mission through research, community services, education and advocacy to save babies' lives. March of Dimes researchers, volunteers, educators, outreach workers and advocates work together to give all babies a fighting chance against the threats to their health: prematurity, birth defects, low birth weight."
What will the money raised be used for? The money we raise for March for Babies will help:
- support all-important research offering preventions and solutions for babies born too soon or with birth defects
- educate women on things they can do to increase their chances of having a healthy baby
- provide comfort and information to families with a newborn in intensive care
- push for newborn screening and health insurance for all pregnant women and children
You can find my personal March of Dimes website by clicking on this link. While there, you can make a donation to help make more funds available or by clicking on the widget on my side bar. It doesn't have to be a lot, every little bit helps in the fight against premature births so that "one day all babies will be born healthy."
