Happy Birthday Big K

Dear Big K,
You are another year old. I can't believe you are 4 years old!

This year has gone by so fast, and A LOT has happened.

Stats:
Weight: 33lbs
Height: 39in

That's a long way from the 4lbs 14oz and 17in you started out at! You are so worth the long days on bed rest, the multiple trips to the hospital, and even the kidney stone I had about a month before you were born. While my pregnancy would have been easier without all that extra stuff, I wouldn't trade it for anything because all that made you even more of a miracle to your daddy and me. We were blessed that we did not need the help of the March of Dimes, but we know they would have been there if we had needed them. Because of this, they are our charity of choice. (You can donate here in honor of Big K and all the healthy children you know.)

Over the last year, you've learned *most* of your letters and numbers(0-9) by site, you've learned how to spell your name and can even write it when you try really hard. You went to Disney World and got to meet Tinkerbell, Minnie Mouse, and the princesses. You even were Snow White for a day. You went on your first field trip and got to ride on the school bus for the first time. You started gymnastics and LOVE it. You became a big sister.

You love to eat tomatoes, olives, mac&cheese, cheeseburgers, and "polka dot pizza." Your favorite restaurants are Cheeburger Cheeburger, McAllisters, and "Chick-fa-yay." You love you some chocolate milk and "normal" water(ice water.)

Your vocabulary is exploding! The things you say never cease to amaze me. Sometimes, it's hard to believe you're only 4. The way you describe things is crazy. The other day, you told us you were "quite cold."

You're newest role in life is big sister. You LOVE your little sister. You want to help so much, even though you say you're "allergic to baby poop and pee." You like holding Little K, at least until she starts crying. You're new fascination is to burp her after she eats.

It's hard to believe you've come so far in only 4 years. I can't imagine what this next year will hold for you. I pray that continue to love, to grow, and to learn.

Love,
Mommy

A White Christmas

Yes, you read that right. We had a white Christmas. It wasn't all day, but still it snowed, here, on Christmas.

Rosie's last night with us, was the 23rd as she goes back with Santa on the night of the 24th. She decided to get a little crafty, but much to our surprise, Big K did NOT enjoy this trick. She was ready to take it down pretty much as soon as she crawled out from under it.

Our Christmas started yesterday. According to Big K, Rosie brought us stockings yesterday.

After checking out stockings, we ate our traditional Christmas Eve breakfast of cinnamon rolls, and then opened presents.

Little K got Big K a Rapunzel ornament. In exchange, Big K got Little K a Cinderella ornament.

After Christmas at our house, we went to see my grandmothers and open gifts there with my extended family. (We did Christmas with C's family on Sunday, but I didn't get any pictures. Little K was a little needy that day.)

This morning, sometime between 3 and 6, Big K joined us in bed. There was a pretty big storm come though, and the thunder scared her. We slept in, well, until about 8:30, and then finally wandered to the living  room to see what Santa had brought.

Big K was so excited because Santa brought her a princess bike!

Little K got some bows, which she seemed excited about because she smiled really big when I told her what they were.

After opening gifts, we headed off to IHOP for our traditional Christmas meal. We've been doing this since 2007.

After lunch, we hung out at home. Big K played with some of her new toys, and Little K napped.

Then to our real surprise, the weather forecast came true, and we got SNOW on Christmas! We weren't real sure how much we'd get, so we took pictures early on and then when it kept falling, we went out and took a few more.

Big K was over the moon happy about it. She would have stayed outside a lot longer if we would have let her.

Little K's first snow, not even a full month old!

Big K made a snow angel and helped C build a snowman almost the size of her!

Quite the Christmas! From our family to yours, Merry Christmas. May the Lord bless you!

Sister Sunday

Each week Big K seems to like Little K just a bit more. She's holding her more, interacting with her more, and helping a bit more.

Rosie: week 3

Here are the last full week of Rosie's adventure with The 4 Bears until next year.

Rosie goes back with Santa tomorrow night so we'll have to see what her last trick is.

3 weeks

Little K is 3 weeks old! Well, 3 weeks 2 days.

The last 2 weeks have been eventful. Life doesn't slow down after a baby, I think it gets crazier- and a little sleepier. HA!

What have we done in weeks 2 and 3?

Gone to church for the first(and second time). I have yet to hear an entire sermon since taking Little K, but I guess that's part of taking a newborn to church.

We went to the Christmas parade. Big K enjoyed it! Little K slept for the first half, and then one of the bands woke her up. She finished "watching" the parade from being tucked into my sweatshirt.

Gpa finally made it! Big K was super excited about him getting here, and she's been all about him since he got here. Gpa has been soaking up his time with the girls as well.

Little K had her first "play date." I went to a friends house so she could help me figure out my Moby. The other little one is 2 days shy of being a month older than Little K.

We saw Santa again at dinner. Little K was awake, and didn't cry, despite being hungry! It was her dinner time too.

During the last 2 weeks, we have also been struggling with Little K's weight. She was gaining very slowly and was not back to birth weight at 2 weeks old. 48 hours later, she was at exact birth weight, and then 48 hours later, she had dropped below again. That weekend, we spent most of the time trying to get her to eat. At 3 weeks old, she had surpassed her birth weight by 6oz! We go back on the 31st for another weight check just to make sure we're still going the right direction.

Worldess Wednesday

Christmas- round 1

This past weekend, we had Christmas round 1. It's crazy to think that it's already that time of the year again.

First Christmas gift of the season: A bed for Lalaloopsy

Little K's first Christmas gift ever.

A new (plush) Lalaloopsy to go with the bed.

A new movie!

This was round 1. I can think of at least 4 more. It's a crazy time of the year!

We really need to go through Big K's toys and clear out some things that she doesn't play with anymore because we've got Christmas and then a birthday shortly after.

Christmas Program

This past Thursday, Big K had her Christmas program at school. It's crazy to think that, now that this program is over, she only has 3 more before she goes to school.

Playing the rhythm sticks.

This little light of mine...

So grown up!

After the program, we went down stairs for cookies. These 3 are pretty much connected at the hip, and there is never a dull moment when they are together. Just take a look!

So glad she stayed clean so that I could get a picture since I totally forgot to get one before the program!
